Easter Trip to Margarita for the official opening of "Wind & Water"

Many thanks to Gerry Lynch and Anne Murphy for some of these brilliant pictures.

The trip started with a St Patrick`s day celebration on the complex " Wind & Water". We all woke up to glorius sunshine at 28 degrees and to the sound of the Dubliners around the pool area. Many thanks to Fiona and the Children for decorating the Churauata bar in Green for us. A huge thanks also to Corazon and Urlich for keeping the fridge full with refreshments, compliments of Liam & Shalom.

Later that evening we were entertained with a fantastic barbecue by the pool. The barbecue was supplied and personally cooked for us by one of our Architects "Thamir Pinerua" and her sister "Rosario Gonzalez De Rausseo" who is one of our Lawyers. We all thank you for the wonderfull food it was very much appreciated and especially the gorgeous cake. The party continued late into the night compliments of Liam, Shalom & John.

Conor kept everybody in supply of a drink all day and was indeed a great barman but couldnt keep going and had to end the night on a sunlounger. He wasnt the only one.

The children had a fantastic time in the pool, they really enjoyed the waterslide. Some of the adults enjoyed the pool also.

There were so many beaches to choose from and the smaller ones in the fishing vilages are the best where you can meet the locals and see the real Margarita.

There is so much fantastic scenery and nature to be seen on the Island.

On our tour of the Island we visited La Restinga and this was thoroughly enjoyed by everybody. We were taken on a boat on the Mangroves and stopped off on the beach for refreshments and there everybody bought a huge selection of Pearls.

The trip continued to the Peninsula of Macanao where we stopped on a beautiful beach. Here there was an Easter festival taking place and we got to see the local girls dancing in their traditional costumes. We also saw the monkey and the parrots on the beach.

The evening ended in the town of Juan Greigo with dinner in a restaurant on the beach and watched the Sunset on Margarita.

The children had a fantastic day in the Water park in Playa El Agua. They enjoyed the waterslides and it was great that there were no long queues. The adults also enjoyed the water park.

We visited our next complex " Beach View Palace" which is on the beach of Porlamar. We were also very pleased with the progress on this development and our sincere thanks to Carolina Hernandez our Architect for her dedication and impressive work to date. Carolina is also the Architect for the complex Wind & Water and we are very impressed with her work. Afterwards everybody enjoyed drinks and lunch on the beach in a little hut right outside the complex, I think that this will indeed be our local.

We did enjoy all the food in Margarita and were very pleased with the restaurants but have to say the most enjoyable were the home cooked dinners in Wind and Water compliments of Eugene and his wife Helen. We were very lucky to enjoy bacon and cabbage and thanks to Corazon for the supply of Kerrygold butter, we really felt at home.

Century 21 a Venezuelan tour operator visited the Complex to take Pictures for their brochure and again this turned into a party as we had to show the Bar being busy. So thanks to Liam & Shalom for the supply of Polar, Vino and Brandy & Baileys. The party continued late into the night.

Mary and Helen enjoyed having their pictures taken for the Brochure.

The Vino was very popular with some of the ladies.

Some of the locals enjoyed the complex and liked to party with us. But the security was very good in the complex and they took good care of all of us. The cat became very popular with all of the children.

Our next day out was a boat trip to the Island of Los Frailes and most of us enjoyed snorkelling. It was a brilliant trip that was arranged by Urlich, when we arrived at Playa Parguito we discovered that we had to walk out into the sea to get on the boat. Some of us found this very funny as we were not dressed for the occasion and myself being one of those people. But after a few Rum & Coke getting in and out of the boat was not a problem. When we arrived on Los Frailes we were given refreshments while the crew prepared the barbecue and then we were taken along the coast to do some snorkelling. Then we returned to the Island for lunch and more Rum & Coke and a little Salsa dancing. In our group we were joined by five very nice tourists from Canada, i think they thought we were a little mad at first but then they joined in in the fun also. We later went to feed the fish and swim with the fish. It was a most enjoyable day indeed. Some of us needed a little help ashore when we returned to Playa Parguito. Here we said our goodbyes to the Canadian group as a taxi was waiting to bring us back to Wind and Water and Pat & Charlotte with Mary and myself were very fortunate to be the last out of the boat as our taxi driver had his own supply of Polar light in the boot and we were all given a drink for the road.

There were many good days enjoyed on the beaches where you could get a foot or back massage as Conor really enjoyed. Or just simply enjoy the great food and drinks with the locals. Our favorite was of course Pina Coladas.

There was no shortage of night life on the Island but the best happened after midnight. We enjoyed a great night in the town of Porlamar on the Saturday night as some of the group went home after one week. The night began in Playa El Agua in Mauai`s Beach Bar and then to The Brittish Bulldog in Porlamar and into Senor Frog before returning to Wind & Water. For some it became an all night party that ended at the pool at lunch time on Sunday after being given breakfast from the lovely Francis Kelly (i could mention here that for some it ended in the Pool).

Woodie`s beach bar in Playa El Agua was also a popular spot for the late night salsa dancing where Paula & Ann enjoyed many nights.

My friend Mary loved the beach bars and was practically one of the locals at the end of the two weeks. We enjoyed many good days in Margarita. And i keep thinking of these words " Bring me two Pina Coladas, One for each hand"

Liam & Myself ( Maggie) and our son Conor would like to thank most sincerely everybody that came on the trip. We had a lovely group and even though Liam had to work some of the time we had a fantastic holiday.
